FROM DUNGAREES TO PINAFORES

I could get used to this kinda style (and the rustic setting!)

It’s been a good five years since I last bought something in Miss Selfridge. For some reason I've developed this notion that once we ladies reach a particular age, there’s a list of shops that we should self-proclaim to be banned from; Tammy Girl is one, Forever 21 is another (the clue is in the name!) and I've actually categorized Miss Selfridge in the same circle - I think with Miss Selfridge it’s something to do with the fact that I bought a dress from there when I was 9!

Anyway, am I wrong in my thinking? Does anyone else share this same thought process whereby you avoid going in to certain shops because you think you are either too old or too young to shop in there?

I spotted this pinafore dress in a Cosmo magazine and loved it and ended up not caring where it was from. Maybe I’m too old for wearing pinafores, but ultimately who gives a……I have to also credit the bag to Beeswonderland’s blog because it was one of her posts that inspired me to buy it.

  5. I didn't know these were called pinafores! (BAD blogger!) But I kind of know what you mean about self-banning - but for me it's more because I associate places I shopped when I was younger (JC Penney's, Macy's) with being kind of trashy for some strange reason. Forever 21 though - you just don't get better prices than that. (Although the quality is questionable.)

  25. I actually kind of feel the same way :P I used to shop at F21 a lot more. Charlotte Russe is way off my list, same with Delia's and Wet Seal. They're both very tween-teen oriented haha. Miss Selfridge I actually like! They have some very unique designs. I remember seeing a pair of studded gloves on there that I really loved...I couldn't find a similar design anywhere else.

  32. I want a bag like that!! I think Jil Sander came up with a cool concept.:) And that blouse is too adorable for words!!
    I actually do that - I tend to not shop in certain stores because of some predisposition in my head. But when my mum says she's too old to shop at xy I get all worked up and tell her that she should buy clothes that she likes period. Talk about being a hypocrite.:)
