WINTER IS NOT SO BAD
If you like hats and knee-high boots
As much as I loathe this cold, wintry weather, it does have some saving graces; in my opinion, winter fashion and style outclasses the summer’s. I definitely get more anxious when I go shopping at this time of year, simply because there is just so much more to choose from – better clothes, better shoes, better accessories......do you agree? It might just all be in my head, but comparing my credit card statements from season to season, I definitely know I spend more on clothes etc. at this time of year. I've also noticed that winter fashion and style tends to be a better investment; I can wear them for the majority of the year (British weather and all that) and from year to year without them looking tired and ‘so last season’. My boots and hats are cases in point. I bought the boots from Zara last year when I was going through my phase of lusting after the Givenchy fold over boots - let's be honest, they are still one of my highly coveted items! I also bought the hat last year when I saw, you guessed it, Kim K donning a similar one. However, when I put them on now, they still feel like a recent purchase (the only item that is new in this outfit is the shirt, which is from Reiss, and the Hindmarch bag).
More saving graces: last weekend my GHD hair straighteners and brush did not touch my hair. They didn't need to because I had every intention of wearing a hat all weekend and I knew nobody would notice the nest that hid beneath it. It takes me a while to do my locks, despite them being bobbed, but this chilly weather lends itself perfectly to just covering them up with a trilby, a fedora, a beanie or, as shown in today’s photos, a floppy without any effort at all. Regarding the shoes, I prefer boots to sandals. I don’t have the best feet in the world so covering them up suits me just fine. These knee-high boots are right up my street, not just because they are knee-high, but also because they have a wedge heel – height, tick; comfort, tick!
I’m predicting this weekend will be just the same – rocking another pair of knee-high boots and using another hat to hide my untouched mane.
Which season do you prefer for shopping, fashion and style?
