SEVENTIES FASHION FOR SS15

Get out the flares girlfriend

As I started to photograph my delicious, home-made, healthy pancakes to present to you on this blog, I had a timely reminder that we were in the midst of fashion week and that it had been a while since I shared an outfit post with y’all, so here it is: my OOTD - me in my flares and the ever ubiquitous camel coat.

Despite me enjoying scrolling through the latest #NYFW and #LFW posts on Instagram to discover the emerging talent and trends adorning the catwalks, I don’t consider myself an avid trend follower, although I do dabble in buying trend pieces as some of you will know; from those ugly sliders I bought in the summer to the popular sports luxe Stan Smiths I bought a few months ago, but generally I buy what suits me (and what I can afford!) rather than what I see the fash-pack wear. However, you can’t deny that smug feeling when you have a style piece in your wardrobe which you've had for many years, in my case these flares, and then realise it has been forecast to be next season’s fashion trend (my mum always reminds me of all the clothes and shoes she wished she had kept for me from the 70s). Yep, that’s right, seventies fashion is returning for SS15, which means I have even more excuse to don my favourite cut of jeans – bye bye skinny-fit (although I’m sure they’ll never really retire from the high-street) and hello figure-flattering flares……… ooooh, and I’ll be sure to hold on to my floppy hats too!

  1. I can not believe you got that from Asos!! It looks like max Mars or something like that! You chose well bc the cut is great. Turn about flares bc that means heels which means taxis and running for them..l love this look xx

    1. It was definitely a surprising ASOS find and yes I guess the downside of flares is that you're forced to wear heels, although I tend to wear wedges in the summer which are more comfortable x

  2. Colleen, first of all, how smashing and gorgeous you are! WOW! Im as you, I am not an avid trend follow, I do love to buy what I really like, whatever is on trend or not. And definitely, Im happy too if ever happens to already own a style piece. Flares are so hot for the next season, I was a huge fan of this model too and wore a lot when I was a teeny. Yours are too cool and suit you so well. Also, super stylish coat and booties, you rock Colleen! Have a great start into the week dear xo

  3. Wow, amazing flares, I love them, and your camel coat too! The last picture, you look fantaaaastic, so beautiful, could be easily on a catwalk yourself! I agree with your mum :) So many things we throw away or better, donate, and then all come back :) Donating is good, but look at how much we can save :) I am also like you, maybe some pieces that are trendy, but not overly. You look great and where are the pancakes? :)

  4. Wow, dear Colleen, your camel coat you got from Asos is fantastic! And I like it really how you styled it with your flares - this is in sum such a round and wonderful stylish outfit <3 I'm also happy that the flares are back as I own still a few of those pants I wore in the past so often :) Hope you are well and you had a fantastic weekend!

  5. Dear Colleen. I´m like you. I am also not a person who follows every trend. I often buy parts that are already "out". A got basic pieces in my wardrobe and pimp my Outfits with just a few trendy pieces.
I´m happy, that flares are back again. (every fes years) These Pants are perfect for making long legs.

You look very stslish in your Outfit. Right out of a Magazin. The Booties are to die for. Wish you a very nice week.

  7. Aaah...you, me and ASOS. Hahaha. I never fail to find classic pieces there. I don't follow trends either. I buy what I like and what suits me. Flares suit us, ladies with ample backside and hips :D Don't you agree? I always have flares and skinny in my wardrobe (though I'm no longer skinny) and classic cuts such as pencil and A-line for skirts. The classics are always in! And I don't listen to what's in; otherwise we'll all look the same. Love your 70s look and you'll definitely never go out of style. I think I have the same ensemble. Hahaha. Hope you're having a lovely week xx
