BOHO STYLE

With the gladiator sandal

TOPSHOP

They were everywhere: SS15 catwalks; Coachella; Instagram; the high street; and now……….a version of the gladiator sandal has graced my shoe closet. I've essentially lived in my over-the-knee suede and leather boots for the past few months but now I've substituted those winter boots for some, boho-style summer boots, at least for the next few months anyway.

I’ve hankered after the mid-calf leather gladiator sandals for a while, but with not being a massive fan of my legs - and these shoes do draw attention to your legs - I vetoed the idea of ever owning a pair. I was also concerned, having inherited my mother’s genes for large calves, that they would be an ill-fit - #girlproblems. Fast-forward to a Sunday night browsing the online stores on my iPAD: 4 days later the delightful sandals were ready for collection at my local Topshop store. If you don’t buy, you can’t try, right? I'm glad I tried because they fit better than expected; I think if they were zip fastening only, I’d have had to return them, however the lace up front means I can adjust the tightness to accommodate my lower leg.

Once the weather really warms up and I make some time for a good ole’ professional leg wax I can hopefully wear them some place other than my back garden!

    1. I can't blame you for thinking like this because I thought exactly the same, that's why it took me so long to buy them, but having bought them I do think more girls can wear them than you think. Think maxi skirt with a split or cropped 3/4 length trousers......it's unlikely I'll be wearing mine with a mini skirt too often, so I'll be experimenting! xx

  5. Oh, they are very beautiful (I liked your dress and hat as well)! I loved the sandals, it's such a boho flair, for sure! Yes, if not buying, at least trying! I know what you mean by large calves, so I am glad that you got the ones that are fine, not ill-fitted! You look always super stylish and fabulous!

  6. Dear Colleen,
wow, love your shoes so much! And also how you wear your new wonderful sandals <3 Ich can imagine that you are happy to wear such shoes after the months in boots ... looks like it is already really warm in your city! Here in Bavaria we have also warm days but we still feel with a colder wind that there is in the mountains still snow. Hope you are well and happy new week!

  8. Finally catching up on my blog reading after my holiday. I have had mixed feelings about many of the gladiator sandals but you have chosen a great pair and hopefully the warmer temperatures will return and you will soon be able to wear them out and about. It's so cold up here to today. (I heard that there was a dusting of snow nearer Manchester but there's no way I'm getting out my boots again!!)
